Welcome Back

Welcome to the 2026–2027 school year! I am honored and excited to welcome both returning and new families to Discovery Elementary. As we begin another year of learning, growth, and connection, I look forward to partnering with each of you to make this a year where every child feels supported, challenged, and inspired to succeed.

Our theme this year is Better Together. These two simple words reflect what makes Discovery such a special place. We know that when students, families, and staff work together with trust, kindness, and a shared commitment to learning, we create an environment where everyone can thrive. Together, we will celebrate successes, navigate challenges, and continue building a school community where every child feels seen, valued, and connected.

As your principal, my personal goal this year is to listen, learn, and then lead. I believe the strongest leadership begins with listening to the voices of our students, families, and staff. By taking time to learn from one another and understand the unique strengths and needs of our community, we can make thoughtful decisions that support student success and strengthen the culture of our school. I am committed to leading with collaboration, transparency, and a focus on what is best for our children.

At Discovery, we believe every student deserves engaging, high-quality instruction and the opportunity to reach their full potential. Our dedicated staff works collaboratively through Professional Learning Communities (PLCs) and Multi-Tiered Systems of Support (MTSS) to ensure instruction is responsive to student needs while providing additional support or enrichment when needed. We also believe in developing the whole child by fostering curiosity, responsibility, resilience, and kindness each day.

Every morning, our students will begin the day by connecting with their classroom community through morning meetings & attendance. These daily routines help create a strong sense of belonging while building the social-emotional skills that support learning and positive relationships throughout the school day.

We also believe leadership begins early. Throughout the year, students will have opportunities to develop responsibility, collaboration, and confidence through classroom leadership roles, school-wide activities, and meaningful opportunities to contribute to our Discovery community. By encouraging student voice and ownership of learning, we empower children to become capable learners and compassionate citizens.

Thank you for entrusting us with your child’s education. It is a privilege to partner with your family, and we are excited for all that we will accomplish together this year. I look forward to getting to know each of you and working alongside our incredible staff, students, and families because, at Discovery Elementary, we truly are Better Together.
